Annual Midwinter Dinner
It’s a potluck this year! We’ll vote and give prizes out on the best dishes. And we’re planning for some fun entertainment again. We will have a rolling slideshow of photos at the event. Send a couple of your Peace Corps photos to James Scott at email@example.com.
We are asking for donations at the door – $5/person and $10/family to cover part of the venue rental and entertainment, and a paperback book (or 10!) in English to donate to Jasmin Taylor, a PCV in Micronesia, who wants to foster the reading ability of early readers in her community. Mike McKibbin and his wife, Celeste, are aiming to donate 1000 books – they have collected a lot already, but we still need some more. From Jasmin’s words:
We are requesting books for students ages 8 to 12, in third and fifth grades, with a reading level of kindergarten through fifth grades. Gently-used books that would be most useful will focus on sight words, high frequency words, early reader as well as picture books, aimed toward American kindergarteners through second grade and chapter books for fourth to fifth graders.
