Fiesta de los Colores en Guatemala – Opportunity Quilt to Raise Funds for Development and Disaster Relief Projects

Thank you to the artistry and generous donation of RPCV and Board Member Heidi Steger, SVRPCV is able to offer this gorgeous quilt made from Guatemalan fabric as the prize in our opportunity quilt drawing. Between now (starting at the Girl Rising movie screening this Friday) and Peace Corps Week in March 2018, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in a drawing for a chance to win this gorgeous quilt. All proceeds go to SVRPCV for development and disaster relief projects. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Rosette @ rosettenguyen@yahoo.com | 916.548.5697 or Heidi @ hsteger@kantola.com.

Here’s the explanation from Heidi:
I call this quilt “Fiesta de los Colores en Guatemala” because of the brilliantly colored fabrics I used. The striped fabrics are handwoven in Guatemala and are used by Guatemalans for clothing.  The pattern I used is called Winding Ways and is from a book of quilt patterns using these curved pieces written by a local quilter and member of River City Quilters Guild, Nancy MacDonald.  I took a workshop that she offered and that was my introduction to sewing curved shapes in a quilt. The bright colors just make me want to sing, dance, celebrate! “Fiesta!”
